Bill Baggs Cape State Park includes a mile long stretch of beach along the Atlantic Ocean in the Gold Coast section of South Florida.  This park located in the southern barrier island of Key Biscayne near Miami provides one of the seldom encountered natural beach experience opportunities within this highly developed area of the state.

Florida’s offshore reef provides for calm waters in this area and beautiful sandy beach. Florida’s ocean reef is the second longest in the world (second to the Great Barrier Reef of Australia), and extends all the way from Key West to Stuart).

Don’t expect a wilderness experience in this park however. The usual amenities associated with a somewhat developed state park (rentals, food, etc.) can be expected.  Historic tours of the area’s lighthouse are available as well.
