Stump Pass Beach State Park lies south of Venice, on Manasota Key, and has the least developed shoreline found along this Florida coastal adventure destination.  Stump Pass Beach is off the beaten path and less known to those visiting the Cultural Coast area of Florida.  Individuals often bypass this area and visit only the better known Venice Beach area for beach-combing and shark tooth hunting before heading South to Sanibel Island for some shell collecting.  That makes parking in this beautiful natural coastline area a breeze without crowds to fight.

As often found to characterize this area of Florida shoreline, seashells and shark teeth wash up in abundance along the gentle surf encountered on this beautiful mile of sand.  Shelling is best during the winter months, but shark teeth are found in abundance year-round.  Locals find it a popular pastime to walk the beach in search of the current treasures from the sea and will usually happily share their experience with novice collectors.

Visitors to this park will enjoy excellent views of the Gulf of Mexico, as well as a fantastic stretch of undeveloped Florida coastline.  This secluded beach provides plenty of opportunities to enjoy the year-round swimming and sunbathing in the warm waters.

Those wishing an excursion off the beach will find opportunities to hike or observe wildlife rewarding as well.  A well maintained hiking trail passes through five distinct natural communities that provide ample habitat supporting many species of wildlife
