Although many visitors to the natural areas of Florida may not have an interest in hunting, it is an important aspect of land management.  Not only are funds derived from these activities critical to maintaining the public access, but uncontrolled populations of any species upsets the natural balance of the area.

Many of the properties open to public recreation are managed with periodic hunts scheduled.  When traveling in these areas, it is advisable to do a little research to confirm if there are any current hunts in progress.  These properties are still open to other recreational activities (with the exception that equestrian travel may be restricted), but a little more consideration of others is recommended.

The FWC (Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission) maintains many of these properties and posts hunting schedules for those areas.  Included below are links to the current schedules posted by the FWC.  The documents linked are in PDF format and require Adobe PDF Reader or compatible which is available free by following the link available on the homepage of this website.
